The Order of Divine Delegated Authority

The Mystery of Iniquity

2 Thess 2:6 - 2 Thess 2:7 (KJV) 7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

“For the mystery of lawlessness” – the hidden principle of rebellion against constituted authority- is already at work in the world, (but it is) restrained only until he who restrains is taken out of the way”

    1. Rebellion can be manifest by internal resistance or/and external disobedience
    2. When we become unwilling to yield to authority we are in rebellion

Our Purpose is to become vessels of honor

2 Tim 2:20 - 2 Tim 2:21 (KJV) 20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

The Order of Divine Authority

  • The higher the office – The greater the sin
  • The greater the authority the more toxic and significant the transgression

Rom 13:2 - Rom 13:2 (KJV) 1Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

    1. Those that are under authority will look for, recognize, and yield to authority where ever they go
    2. Those that conduct life as one under authority will be recognized themselves
    3. Those that have “Kingdom Authority” are gentle people before the Lord
    4. Those that have been given “Kingdom authority” understand the responsibility and have a sense of awe
    5. Delegates have authority as they represent the King
    6. Breaches of authority cause God’s delegates to grieve

    • God desires a people who will not live independently
    • Independence is a manifestation of rebellion
    • When we are hard and unyielding under the dealings of the Lord we are displaying the strength of our soul and self rule of our lives

Heb 13:6 - Heb 13:7 (KJV) 7Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

  • We aren’t to make idols of men
  • However, we are to follow the lifestyle of the leaders God has given us
  • We are to follow their faith and faithfulness

2 Thess 3:6 - 2 Thess 3:11 (KJV) 6Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 7For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; 8Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: 9Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. 10For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 11For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

  • Disorderly – one who is slack in the performance of duty, living as a shirker, not walking in accord to traditions & instruction received

vs 6 with slackness ( like soldiers, not keeping rank)

  • vs. 7 one who is out of rank, out of ones place, undisciplined: in a military sense to break rank
  • vs. 7  you ought to follow us for we don’t break rank, or get out of our place WE Vines
  • Kingdom leaders are always first accountable people WE Vines
  • vs 11 disorderly – passing their lives with idleness, neglectful of duty, busybodies

3 John 1:10 - 3 John 1:11 (KJV) 11Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

3 John 1:10 - 3 John 1:11 (TLB) 11Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do what is right prove that they are God’s children; and those who continue in evil prove that they are far from God.

    • We are never to follow evil
    • We are not to be influenced by bad examples
    • When those in authority fail to set the proper example we are to cover them in prayer
    • We are to never perpetuate “clear violations” of morality, ethics, conduct, or illegal activity as outlined in the scripture
    • Therefore the scripture becomes the plumbob

1 Cor 4:16 - 1 Cor 4:17 (KJV) 16Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.17For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

    • Paul exhorted the people to follow him
    • He sent them Timothy to remind them of his “lifestyle in Christ”
    • He lived what he taught
    • His son in the “faith” Timothy had learned that his teachings and life were consistent
    • Timothy the “beloved son”, ”faithful in the Lord” had become the Lord’s hence Paul’s emissary to the Church
    • Timothy was “Sent to Represent”
      • Who?
        • Paul his spiritual father whose life was lived in the “Lord”
        • Therefore Timothy was sent to represent the “Lord”
    • We do not reproduce what we teach!!  We reproduce what we are!!!
      • The authority of Paul was the authority of representing the “Lord”
      • The authority of Timothy was the authority of representing the “Lord”

1 Cor 11:1 - 1 Cor 11:1 (KJV) 1Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ

1 Cor 11:1 - 1 Cor 11:1 (TLB) 1And you should follow my example, just as I follow Christ’s

    • We can trust and follow the example of those that live their lives “in Christ”

1 Thess 1:5 - 1 Thess 1:6 (KJV) 5For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.6And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

1 Thess 1:5 - 1 Thess 1:6 (TLB) 5For when we brought you the Good News, it was not just meaningless chatter to you; no, you listened with great interest. What we told you produced a powerful effect upon you, for the Holy Spirit gave you great and full assurance that what we said was true. And you know how our very lives were further proof to you of the truth of our message. 6So you became our followers and the Lord’s; for you received our message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the trials and sorrows it brought you.

    • The word came in power
    • The word came by manifestation of the Holy Ghost
    • The word produced great confidence
    • Our lives were further proof of our message
    • The message was received with joy though the cost was clear
    • The word brought affliction – tribulation, burden, anguish
