"If you have not chosen the Kingdom of God, it will make in the end no difference what you have chosen instead"
CS Lewis

I WILL BUILD MY

CHURCH

The Organism

The Power and The Purpose

Matt. 16:13 - 20 (KJV)When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 20Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

1.     The personal revelation of who Jesus is - is the Foundational stone of the "Church" the Ekklesia.  Our stability, strength, and power to overcome in life rest in our personal understanding of who Jesus is.

2.     Is it "man's Church" or "His Church"?  The church of man has to do with his assembly places and mechanical ritual.  I'm not anti-building or against repeating a God inspired administration.  However, the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is His people.  We believers have become the habitation of the "Most High".

3.     His Church (the Body of Christ, His People) by His own description is an offensive Fighting Force.  The Church is the vehicle through which the Father God advances His Kingdom against the kingdom of darkness.   His Church is not a gathering of the hapless and helpless that are waiting for evacuation.

4.     His Church is a threat to the fortress strongholds of Hell.  We are an elite, strategic, military commissioned to discover and dismantle the entrenched imposter kingdom of darkness.

5.     The Church is now the custodian of the earth.  Whatever we allow is allowed and whatever we restrict is restricted.

6.     We are the gateway of Heavens rule.  Psalms 24:7 (KJV)"Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in."  We are the porters of Heaven!!

7.     John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."  Jesus is our doorway to the Father.  We are the doorway of Heaven into the earth.

One Body

1 Cor. 12:12 - 18 (KJV)  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14For the body is not one member, but many. 15If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 16And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 17If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 18But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

8.     There is only one body of Christ, not many.  There is only one Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Wooops!!!!  It's not our favorite denomination or the building down the road that we have built and maintained all these years.

9.     We may start out from different backgrounds, different ethnic groups, different education, different social standing, different genders, different generations however we are all made one in Christ.  We have all drank of one Spirit if we are His.

10. We are a many membered, multi-functional body.  We are full of the creative diversity of God.  Though we are many and there is great diversity among us we are still only "One Body".

11. We are members of each other.  We have direct intimate relationships and then we have knowledge of other members outside our circle.  However, even our extremities are important.  When you hit you toe one morning getting up for work remember that even the little, most remote, forgotten members are important. At times they can demand all of our attention.

12.   I don't get to pick and choose where I am in the body of Christ - I only get to discover my place and either submit to the will of God or reject it.  Cooperating, nurturing, and continuing in covenant with the members the Lord has directly related me to is my way of honoring the sacrifice of the body and blood of Christ.

How do we all get along?

The Mystery of The Marriage is the Mystery of The Church

Eph 5:21 - 32 (KJV) 21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

13.   The mystery of the Marriage is being described as "two unique, vastly different, and in many ways opposite" individuals becoming one.  When I officiate a marriage I remind the people that this covenant will change their identity.  Two become one new creature.

14.   The mystery of the marriage is the mystery of the Church!!!!

a.      Though a marriage is truly ordained of God yet it will not be trouble free

b.     If a marriage is to be successful there must be ongoing maintenance to preserve it.

                                                              i.      Couples must truly love one another

1.     Love may begin by personal attraction and like interests

2.     However, real love is the work of:  Kindness, consideration, caring, and serving the others interest above you own.

ii.      We must become selfless or end in divorce

1.     Many marriages fail (by losing quality) because of the selfish nature of the parties

2.     If everything is always about fulfilling your needs you will fail in marriage and life.

iii.      We have to resolve conflict!

1.     Conflict is never settled by ignoring it

a.      Avoidance, builds distrust and pressure

2.     Conflict is never settled by stating all the facts according to your perception (that's only venting)

a.      Venting is important

b.     The "Spirit of Truth" is Love.

c.     Truth without Love is Law.

d.     Love without Truth is a License for Sin.

3.     We must have desire to please the Lord more than be ruled by our own rights

4.     The truth as "God" sees it must be more important than your perspective

iv.      We must learn to communicate!

1.     Monologue is one way communicating

2.     Dialogue should be a respectful verbal exchange two or more ways

3.     Can you disagree without being disagreeable?

4.     Can you disagree with someone without taking their dignity away?

5.     Some people ought to be arrested for assault and battery of the mouth

                                                           v.      Even when all facts are in the open - only mercy can bring a cure

1.     "By mercy and truth iniquity is purged"

2.     We must learn to repent!

3.     We must learn to forgive!

4.     We must learn to serve!

Every Rule That Applies To Marriage Applies To The "Church"

If we are to advance the "Kingdom of God" and defeat the forces of darkness we must follow the practices of healthy, fruitful marriages. If we are to get along and advance the Kingdom of God we must live by the rules that govern healthy, fruitful marriages.
