THE FIVE EQUIPPING GIFTS
OF JESUS CHRIST
Matt. 10:40 through Matt. 10:41 (KJV)
40He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward(“hire,” “pay”); and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.
Reward - used of the fruit naturally resulting from toils and endeavours, of the rewards which God bestows, or will bestow, upon good deeds and endeavours
I. Jesus uses the Bible and men to establish foundation in believers.
John 1:1 (KJV)
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
A. The Bible is our text in establishing men their life for God. We believe Jesus is the Word and in order for a man to be founded in Christ, he must have a workable understanding of basic Bible concepts. Hence the Foundations.

16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.).
B. Ephesians 4:11-12 Men (Ephesians 2:20) lay foundation in our lives and build on the foundation laid. Jesus is that foundation laid (1 Corinthians 3:11).

II. GIFTS OF JESUS (Gifts = Doma - Five Fold EQUIPPERS)

10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
A. Doma Gifts - The administrative or governmental gifts for the perfecting (complete furnishing, equipping, complete thoroughly, that is, repair or adjust) of the saints.
1. Apostle - (Str) 652 apostolos - messenger; he that is sent; from 649 a delegate, specifically and ambassador of the Gospel, officially a commissioner of Christ with miraculous powers. (Web) - one sent forth, to send.
a) commissioner - a person who has received a commission or warrant to perform some office.
b) commission - authority given to act for, or in behalf and in place of another.
c) warrant - authorization.
d) authorization - authorize, to clothe with authority; to empower.
e) Symbolized by the lion. Ezekiel 1:10

2. Prophet - (Str) 4396 prophetes - a foreteller; from 4253 - pro - above, ago before or ever and 5346 - phemi - to show or make known one's thoughts, therefore speak or say.
a) Symbolized by the eagle.
b) Eph. 2:20 (KJV)

10And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus. 11And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
c) (Web) - one who speaks for another, especially for God; a spiritual seer; inspired poet; one who prophesies future events.
d) seer - one who sees; one who foresees events.
3. Evangelist - (Str) 2099 euaggelistes - preacher of the Gospel; from 2097 - euggelizo - to announce the good news especially the Gospel; declare, bring (declare,show) glad tidings, preach (the Gospel).

8And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

5But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
b) (Web) - a preacher of the Gospel; a traveling missionary; an evangalizer; a revivalist.
c) Their primary function is bringing people to Jesus. Example: Philip Acts 8:5-13, 26-40.

4. Pastor - New Testament (Str) - 4166 poimen - shepherd, pastor.
Old Testament - (Str) 7462 raah - to tend the flock.
Thayers 1) a herdsman, especially a shepherd
1a) in the parable, he to whose care and control others have committed themselves, and whose precepts they follow
2a) the presiding officer, manager, director, of any assembly: so of Christ the Head of the church
2a1) of the overseers of the Christian assemblies
a) Lead, feed, tend the flock.

5. Teacher - (Str) 1320 didaskalos - an instructor: doctor, master, teacher; from 1321 didasko - to teach.
a) Acts 13:1 (KJV)
1Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

11Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
b) (Web) - one who teaches or instructs;
c) teach - to make to know how; show how; hence to train to some action; to impart the knowledge of; to make aware by information.
d) instruct - to impart knowledge, especially methodically, to teach; to inform; to furnish with direction.
B. When the Church receives the ministry gifts of the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, or teacher, it's receiving a governmental gift that helps the church or people of God move stage by stage in their development in God. They help move the infant (new convert) through the stages of spiritual development to son-ship (maturity - the stage where the dignity and the character of the individual has been fully formed in Christ). These no longer reflect who they were when they began the race, but they have become people that represent and reflect Jesus in the earth (ambassadors). THIS IS THE PURPOSE OF GOD.
C. Purpose of the Five Fold Ministry
Today God is restoring the Prophet and the Apostle in order to restore HIS Church. God is bringing forth a faithful priesthood (sons). His church will be radiant with HIS Glory and HIS Power.
1. They will contend for the Faith.
a) Jude 3,4 II Corinthians 11:2
b) False Doctrine - reason for birthing again.
c) Galatians 1:6-9 Galatians 3:1-2
d) travail - it is the work or labor (birth pangs) until Christ is formed in us (Galatians 4:19)
2. They are to bring the Church into the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Conformed to the pattern of Jesus - having the mind and vision of Jesus). The Church must receive all FIVE ministries before the Church can become "THE" aggressive force of God that prevails against the gates of Hell.
